Clare was born in 1977 without her left forearm, and is training and racing in Paratriathlon; she is currently coached by the International professional triathlete, Andrea Whitcombe.
In 1989, Clare at the tender age of 12, was invited to join the British Paralympic Swimming Squad and was chosen to represent Great Britain at a national level. This she did so on seven separate occasions between 1990 and 1996.
After representing Great Britain in the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games, Clare retired from competitive swimming as she wanted to concentrate on her degree at the University of St Andrews.
After graduating from St Andrews, she found employment with the business advisory organisation, Deloitte, discovered running and began training for the marathon distance. She then proceeded to complete the London, Edinburgh and New York marathons and numerous half marathons.
In 2008 Clare took the decision to combine her love for swimming and running took up cycling and discovered the highly addictive sport of triathlon, from this, she never looked back.
